After trying out a friends Crossbreed Supertuck Deluxe holster I fell in love with it. He carried a larger gun than I will be and after putting the holster on I could barely feel the gun. I ordered one a bit ago with the horsehide leather ($15 more) which is supposed to be more comfortable and repel sweat more easily. It takes 3-4 weeks for delivery, but I'm excited for it's arrival!

Along the same lines as Cabel I've got ~150 rounds of .223, 100 in Wolf and 50 or so in stripper clips, that my ar doesn't really care for. I'd like to sell that.

well after debating lots of little 380s, I found one I liked and picked it up saturday, S&W:



It's perfect! I put the first 50 rounds through it today with no problems, sights and laser were close enough too. JUST fits into the smallest Uncle Mike's holster (#10). It's barely bigger than my Jennings 22, but lighter and thinner. Trigger pull is long and heavy, like all these DAO pistols, but very smooth. It's super easy to clean, the levers and release are all very flush, slide locks back, I love it :mrgreen:

I couldn't come up with any justification for the additional price of the Kahr or Sig, and the laser's just a bonus. :dunno:

Nice pickup Chan! My mom looked at one of those a while back before I bought her a gun to carry.

Anybody know anyone who shoots .32acp? I've got a box of 50 rounds that I picked up somewhere, can't remember, that I won't ever use.

Good pickup, chan. I really like the Bodyguard .380, it would have been my first suggestion had I realized that when you said you were looking for a "little 9mm" I had realized you meant 9mm Kurz.

I think S&W was spot on with integrating the laser. I've often wondered why we don't see more of that.

So tax season turned out better for me than I thought it would. Going to invest most of the money I saved up but going to use ~$600-800 to get a handgun, accessories and some ammo. Should I budget closer to $1k? Someone told me this weekend that it was worth investing in a really good gun mounted flashlight with a strobe. Is that true?

I don't feel the need to carry it on me so I probably won't get a holster unless I have to. This is going to remain in my home 99% of the time until I take it to the range for practice.

handgun flash lights dont do anything for you outside the home. well unless you want to carry it with you as well.

IMO, a good quality handgun that you feel fits you... ammo and trigger time will be well worth it. I've owned a hand gun since i was 21 years old. I owned something that mounted on my pistol rail for about 2 weeks in the 11 years i've owned handguns. I promptly sold the "laser" to someone else lol

I hear you. I do like the idea of the strobe because it disorients an attacker in my home though. I wouldn't be carrying it so I'm alright with the added size / weight.

What, getting fucking shot isn't "disorienting" enough? Gotta give the man a seizure too? While I like the idea of a flashlight on an HD-only pistola (so you can see what you're shooting at) I don't think a strobe is required, unless you're:
A: A cop
B: Shooting at a rave.

As for your budget, well now that all depends on what you're buying now don't it? If you want, like, an H&K with a full complement of mags and goodies, 800 bucks won't touch it. If you want a reasonable handgun (S&W, SIG, FN, Glawk, something like that) then you could maybe get a ~200 rounds of ammo, your pistol, and your flashlight for around 800.

1000 would be more comfortable.

Nice good advice. Yeah I don't need a top of the line model, just something that shoots well and is reliable and is comfortable in my hands. There are a BUNCH of good ole boy gun shops in SC that you can negotiate with the owners so I'm hoping to stay out of the $1k range...we'll see! I'll post up when I pick something up!

The FN was the most expensive but it was almost tempting. The S&W was just too comfortable to pass up.

Evan brings up a good point. Good Ole boy gun shops are more likely to screw you. They'll take one look at you, and they'll determine that you have more money that brains, and that you know NOTHING about guns. They'll sell you some snake oil to boot. So good luck. I've seen this happen so many times. If I were you, I'd try to find a tactical gun shop. Those shops are usually a little more receptive. But maybe I am just spoiled because I live near a great gun shop, and frequent another that's in Harrisonburg.

Yeah I understand. I am a sales person afterall so I wouldn't go in there completely blind. I'm bringing a friend along with me who has purchased from them before and can help advise me as to what is a good deal and what to expect to offer them. Apparently you can negotiate with some of these guys, which is awesome because I enjoy negotiating.
