can someone answer me why they're called terminators? i could google, but that's for chumps

It was the code name given to the car during its development period by the engineers involved with it, specifically John Coletti (who was at that time head of SVT). This car was to "terminate" the competition (Camaro and to some degree Corvette) and put an end to the pony car wars. The SVT guys wanted to market the car to the general public as the Terminator but Ford corporate brass thought it sounded too harsh and they also didn't want to pay out any royalties to the movie company responsible for the film.
