The ATS interior in that red is gorgeous. I hate the gauges. They look very 80s-GM, and not in a good way. Otherwise, seems like a nice little car.
You're spot-on about the CTS-V... super fun, but only if you can afford the speeding tickets. :?

impressive is how badly it runs out of air. not sure i've ever seen a similar dyno. what would solve that? more turbo?
do it... my aunt had an ats rental the other week and said is was MONAY.

do it... my aunt had an ats rental the other week and said is was MONAY. Yeah, I was surprised too on that dip. That particular car was dynoed in Texas in the middle of the summer, apparently the temp was 105+ in the dyno shop and they did not put air over the car. There is quite a big of "detuning" in the intercooler/ exhaust / intake system apparently as well according to the tuners.
Per your aunt, ironically I bought my CTS after having one as a rental and I may buy this one because of a rental!

I feel obligated to remind you once you start talking about Audis.
And really, you want a glorified Passat with 87 control arms and a V6 but a twin-turbo V8 Bimmer doesn't cut it? I'm a little hurt.

I feel obligated to remind you once you start talking about Audis. Seconded. Of all the options you've discussed thus far, this is the least reliable. Stick with the ATS.
There's a reason Audi resale falls off a cliff when it goes out of warranty. You may say, "But it'll be under warranty." Perhaps, but then that's all time you'd end up wasting having to take it back to the dealership, not to mention the frustration.

Dark Grey Exterior with Red Intertior ATS -- DO IT!!
Probably will end up in the ATS, timeline is going to have to wait until after the wedding and we at least get started furnishing and remodeling the house. I am never home so my house has a nice bed, nice TVs and Craigslist shit couches and tables. The goal is to de-bachelorize.
My insurance agent ran a few quotes for me. Ironically the CTS-V is the cheapest to insure out of the bunch by about $250-400 per year. Not really sure how that works out. I would imagine the gas cost would quickly eat into that savings
6 month quotes (all ridiculous)

To be honest I have seen several in person and the interior is not super impressive, especially when compared against Cadillac interiors. Between that and the fact that the insurance is higher and I can't find one to drive it's getting harder to keep it on my list.
I'm seeing a few used ATSs with the color and option package I want starting to trickle out onto Autotrader in the low 40s. I really think the best plan of action right now is to swing back into the dealership in late December to see if they are willing to drop their pants on a brand new or used one and eat more of my trade in value to get a sale before the end of the year, or wait until next year when more used examples hit the market. By that time the 2014s will be several months into sales and the 2013s might start to dip into the $39k range. I also found a loaded 2010 CTS-V in the beautiful grey color with low miles for $45k today, so that is an option at that point too.

I've gotta be like, way behind on interior stuff. Mine was new in 1998 and it keeps me totally happy. My dad's CTS was well beyond my expectations and my buddy's IS-F was very nice too; those are both like 2006-7 design. I can't imagine what they're pumping out now.
