you can still get the map packs without an Elite subscription, just with the subscription you get them first.
Isnt the online pass only if i buy the game used?

COD Elite is just online stats with social networking. I'm pretty sure the non-Elite is the same experience as Black Ops.

Mine just arrived. Still very little interest in inserting it.

Yeah, not too impressed. I don't see any progress other than in overall game speed; it's frantic as shit. I do see regress in a couple areas (menu system, gun sounds, unlock system).
I hope friends continue playing BF3, because I prefer it greatly.

My copy still hasn't arrived yet, I must be last on the stop list. BUT since I ordered through Amazon I got a promotional code for $25 off another 12mo xbox live subscription! Score.
I might give BF3 a try, but the last one was such a boof fest it's not causing me to go out of my way to pick it up.

What? I ordered mine (arriving on the 10th IIRC, with Forza 4) and I got a "free desktop wallpaper" and $10 off some hundred-dollar MW3 gaming headset.
I'm hearing a lot of good chatter about BF3, I've never played any game in the series however. I'm a one-game-at-a-time kind of player, but I may have to give it a shot at some point.
I got the same $25 credit... and a free avatar outfit!
Pretty sweet considering I got $20 off the game for buying GoW3. :-)

Mike is gonna say I'm just disagreeing with him on principle, but I really like it.
A few notes:
-The game is definitely faster and you're quicker to die, but this has turned out to be beneficial for me 'cause my aim sucks and I can kill people more easily.
-I really like the basic guns, but that's probably because of the previous point.
-The upgrade/unlock method is way simpler because there are is no money. You earn guns with levels and then the experience with those guns allows you to unlock upgrades. You earn a single killstreak at a time (you choose which), instead of the varied costs.
-The support killstreaks (persistent through death but are more defensive in nature) are a cool addition, especially for someone like me who rarely strings more than 5 kills in a row.
-The perk progression seems much clearer and more easy to understand. Like the guns and gun upgrades, it's very linear.
-The animation is MUCH smoother.

Easier to die in this one. Run and Gun doesn't work so much. I went 12-2 after I got pissed and signed off that BS demolition game Got the Predator Drone rolly robot thing...it's pretty gay.
Much smoother than the last one!

Beat the campaign last night, too short like I think alot of campaigns are nowadays.
Multiplayer is fun, very fast paced, maps ive play ed are awesome. I give it
Most of my friends were playing the campaign last night. Are you guys skurred or sumpin?
And yeah, playing Domination when you don't know the maps was a stupid fucking idea. Despite starting the first couple games positive, my K is now ~0.7.

Dude when i went 0-15 I completely went ballistic and gave up. Even in BO I never liked playing any other gametype except HQ? (whatever the one that gives you tons of xp). Went back to a few matches of TDM and did a lot better. This version is going to take a lot of adjustment, but it's way smoother and imo less glitchy than BO so I think I'll like it in the long run.
I played a little campaign last night and per usual it was pretty fun, very engrossing.

I'm glad I skipped Black Ops, I think two years between Modern Warfare games is enough time for it to be somewhat fresh again.
This looks a good deal better and the animation is much smoother and natural. It feels like they had time to put some polish on this game rather than the bug-ridden rush job that was MW2. Then again, maybe exploits will pop up once people have a long enough time to look for holes in the game.
I think the weapon attachment/perk unlock system is better than MW2. Now you don't have to change your playing style to get the next unlock (get 100 bullet penetration kills with FMJ).
Kill Confirmed mode was pretty fun. Kind of reminds me a little bit of Headhunter in Halo Reach, but not quite as crazy.
Campaign is like a Michael Bay movie but it was pretty entertaining. They seem to have worked on some of the game design problems of MW2. Namely, there's not as many situations where you get killed by an enemy that you had no chance of seeing (like the Favela level).
Overall I'm pretty happy with it. No launch day issues or bugs encountered.
