Loudoun was only reporting at 45% and those that had reported were 51% dem, 47% Repub so it's not that strange. Careful, you might start to sound like you're insinuating a Vast Left Wing Conspiracy.

See, it's not that I particularly liked George Allen. He's OK, I guess. It's that I couldn't STAND Jim Webb. From Day One, his ads were "George Allen is a racist puppy rapist." I can't stand that shit. At least George Allen waited until near the end of the race to pull the "Webb writes smut." stuff. Which, at least, was true. I don't have a clue what the guy stands for, except that if he's a Democrat, I guess he's for democrat stuff, like higher taxes.

*sigh* You know what will get my vote in 2 years? Campaign reform legislation. I got some good ideas, the FCC needs to hire my ass, and get this crap off the air. I don't care what "x" candidate did or said. I want to know what YOU stand for, what YOUR principles are.

here comes the brady bill... higher car taxes in this state... at least my contract isnt over until 2013... hopefully the liberals dont try to trim the military budget so much that they take money away from the combat veterans i try to help every day.

that was the frustrating thing. The comercials on both sides turned into mud throwing contests. I'd rather see 10 times more road signs and a couple of debates then have the football game and the good times interupted by people pointing fingers.

Unfortunately, negative ads work. Voter interest doesn't begin to rise until the month prior to the election so informative ads don't work because most folks have already picked their team irrespective of the actual candidate. They just need to fear/hate the opposition enough to go out and vote.

Lincoln Chafee and the moderate R's deserved better.

On a side note, the Dems will hopefully raise the minimum salary for the alternative minimum tax. That should help.

Also Kaan, I'll bet my left nut that things won't change very much if at all. They'll be noise initially to appease the base but nothing much after that. So you can sleep well at night

we are paying appoximately 70% less in car taxes right now. when they start hiking that back up in the state of virginia... that new truck Evan bought is going to cost him $1500 a year extra in taxes

the socialist unified health care system they want to put in is going to make this place like Canada... cheap drugs and a 3 month wait to go to the doctor. I love this country!

recounts have never swung more than 800 votes, with Webb's lead up to 8k this morning I doubt Allen will even ask for one.
And you know if the situations were reversed the conspiracy and ballot stuffing accusations would already be flying. And no, Im not saying that either, just very surprising considering the people who predict these things for a living all had Allen winning by a comfy margin after 95% of votes were in.

A recount is mandantory if the gap is <0.5% and it's currently at 0.3% with 4 precints left.

2 in James City County
1 in Isle of Wight County
1 in Fairfax City

Doesn't anyone else find it amazing that the gap is 7k votes on a basis of 2.3 million?

Also, it's just plain sad that VA only had 52% voter turnout.
