I've always been a big fan of bronze with that color and 2.5RS wheels on a bugeye.
So question.
I changed the oil and I've noticed on a few cold starts the oil pressure dummy light comes on very faint and then fades as it warms up. Oil level seems right (just below "F") on the dipstick.
Searches on Nasioc and other areas point to possible water on the oil pressure sending unit (it was raining when I changed the oil) causing a potential fault, low oil level (probably N/A here but I can always add a little more), the sensor is just potentially faulty due to age, or the 2 extremes of cracked uptake tube leading to engine xplosion or "Too Late, No Oil, Grenade Engine".
I'm leading out the last two given that prior to the oil change everything was fine.
Makes me point to Subaru's are super finnicky about oil levels or my sensor is on the fritz. Cheap to replace but curious what MMSubi says.
Dunno if it matters, but i always run my oil a little high on the XT. Just barely above F.
I see no reason the pick up would be cracked unless someone f'd with it when/if the pan was off.
A sending unit cant be but so expensive, probably the best place to start IMO.
general rule....you've got the high oil hole on the dipstick and then the notch just above it. you want it at the top hole when stone cold. when hot (like, immediately after pulling in to get gas or whatever) it should sit at the notch since oil expands when it gets hot.
the dummy light should come on at 2psi. lots of help, i know. if you're engine is surviving prolonged use at 2psi oil pressure, then you're a magician to keep it running this long. it sounds like a bunk sensor.
the oil pickup tube failing is a legit issue to look out for on the 2.5 turbo engines but i haven't really heard about it on the 2.0's.

that's the problem, they crack on their own. shitty factory brazed joints. seems like they fail at higher miles. KillerB has upgraded pickups that solve the issue.

Cabell, if you want to do gold rims, Have you thought about dipping them. You can get decent results and it requires little to no prep. It makes it a little easier to go back if you change your mind down the road

I've considered dipping them Matt. I'm not opposed to it.
Keep in mind, these were taken inside under poor lighting mounted 20 feet away. The first pic is an engine cover. The second, the wheel obviously. Also keep in mind that the wheel is dipped but that front shock is gold anodized. They look pretty similar. The wheel also hasnt been cleaned in awhile and has a layer of saw dust on it from a wood working project so thats the white layer you see on the very bottom.

Yes engine cover is the same as the wheels. I made excuses cause it'll obviously look slightly different outside in the light.
I'd say 4 cans to be safe and maybe one cheaper can of black to get your first layer on but that's not necessary. I also have a dust coat on top with the gold metalizer to give it some more sparkle.

Dip holds up pretty well once it sits out in the sun for a week or two. It gets pretty hard (but will still peel off when you want it to provided you do it thick enough) putting enough coats on is key to everything though.

Make sure you spray a layer pf that plastidip sealer on there too. That'll make it even less tacky feeling.
Oh yea, i also did a light coat of the clear glossifier Taylor mentioned just to give a little more shine.
