"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

that's my point. in a safe, it's not much good to you. an intruder could be on your before you know it. "hold please, kind sir who is jacking me of my possessions, i have something in my safe for you. thank you for your patience while i retrieve it" isn't going to happen.
i understand that a laser/strobe/thingy enhances your ability to defend yourself, but my point is that you're not going to have a chance to do so.

I do see your point but on the flip side of the coin, the last thing I want is to have one of my friends over and their kid runs up into my room when were not looking and finds a chambered pistol. Or I come home and a robber has broken in and stolen it. Getting held hostage by your own firearm would suck.
The finger safe takes all of literally +/- 1 second to open btw.

All of which could be mitigated by:
Locking it up when kids are around and
Carrying it with you.
Just saying. If you want to make excuses to justify your habits, it's cool. But 1 second to open the safe, another second or two to turn on the light/laser, a third second to rack the slide...now we're three seconds in and whups! You're dead.

He bought it for piece of mind and it's serving that purpose. No need to be passive aggressive about his choices Rexy.

No kids! That fixes a lit of issues.
But no seriously... I don't lick up any firearms, but if kids are coming over... Carry your shit AND watch the damn kids!

I have a lock on my nightstand that I lock when there are kids around to keep them from getting at my revolver. Unlock it before I go to bed.

I <3 Mikey's gun.
Sadly, they wouldn't let him shoot at Bull Run without the course (which was full) because he said "I've never done this before" when I asked him what we wanted to do. No amount of NRA memberships or experience with long guns would get them to budge.
The good news is I managed to shoot a 19. My previous best was 17. I'd like to say it was 'cause I've gotten used to my gun, but in talking with the range worker I think the thrower on that field (#2) is relatively favorable. Me and another guy shot another game of Trap with 1-2-2 Wobble Trap format and I shot a 14.
