Have you added up your TT points and made sure that the increased tire width won't put you in a class way over your cars head?

Well ill need a dyno reclass due to the engine swap, but at its base class a 195 is allowed, so the 205 is only +1, 225 would be +3.

Figuring up my points minus the engine mods I'm well below the points needed to bump me an entire class up.

My biggest issue is going to be the dyno reclass, if mikeys old dyno is accurate and my weight assumptions are accurate its 125hp and id assume 2300 lbs with me in it. So like 18-19:1

i'm certain it hasn't gained power just sitting around Wink

kaan would have a better idea as to what a properly gutted/prepped eg should weigh w/o driver. i last weighed it ~6 years ago.

i know some racers did get them below 2k.

Are the prep rules simply power to weight? You could have some serious fun with that one.

The 7.5s are on back order too? Jeez, I just ordered one x7 C1 and it's also on the slow boat.

The fitment is probably a little different, but I think I'm going to run a 6 or 10mm spacer on the miata once I get suspenshuns, just because +42 seems a little high for the camber I'm going to be running.

Rj no, you get a reclass to give you a new base class, then take points for everything but engine mods

No, and you cant even try to attempt to class it based on power to weight (even though they have maximums for each class).

Its all up to Greg Greenbaum with his "super secret formula". Fing retarded, a guy gets to race in his own class and determines his own reclass? That makes a lot of sense

Oh and better not piss him off, he has a reputation for dicking people over pretty good for very little reason.

I remember that guy, he was a dick. On the internet and in person.

Whats the point of the dyno if it isnt power to weight? Either way, I'd exploit that one, overbuild the motor and de-tune the top end to get it under the max number.

you'll want a minty fresh dyno sheet OR a number you intend to stay under no matter what.

with you in it you shouldnt be too far off the 2300lbs. TT classing sucks... its going to take 2-3 attempts to make sure you understand everything and you get it done right.

Your car wont be a TTG car, so your base tire wont be 195 it will be 235 (TTE) probably. So youll get points back

remember, swaps also require the +3 transmission gear change points.

Transmission Gear Change: +3
ITR LSD: +3
Koni/GC: +3
Tire Compound: +10 for HooHoos? Or +2 for azeniz or something like that
Front lip/splitter: +3 for each
Lower Control arms: (?) +1
Bushings: (?) +
Big Brakes/rear disks: (?) +3
Swaybars: +2 (?)
Ball joint camber adjustment: +2 (?)

the car is already modified... so you need to add up the points while you wait for Greenbaums reclass.

you'll need to look at ways to remove points here and there and also maximize "free" points.

Wait, so you're saying NASA has a way of fucking up rulesets? That's unpossible.

The issue is the magic box greenbaum shakes to come up with you classing... where you start to apply the rules is the issue, not the rules.

the CRX with a K20A3 block is TTD* (180hp/2450lbs) or TTD** (181hp/2350).... i sent him class i wanted to run, projected weight, intended power cap, stock engine numbers, etc.

no one would care if there was some online program they could plug in and do their thing.

the issue really comes down to people bitching because they cant find that "gun" to bring to the knife fight. the only thing that has been figured out so far is NO MATTER WHAT reclass the cars with power to weight. other than that you have to email greenbaum a billion times to figure out different cars and combinations of motors.

i was a little irritated with my classing... i KNOW i didnt piss him off... but i think they are harder on nasa officials lol

wait... so despite published rules, you still send your specs off to this guy and HE tells you what your class will really be?

My understanding...Only if you have certain engine mods (aftermarket heads, more cams than original motor, etc.) or an engine swap will you have to email him for your base reclassification. Other than that, it's points based on modifications. My optional OEM suspension package gets the same points as someone running $5,000 remote reservoir shocks.

And yeah power to weight is more of a "not-to-exceed" for each class.

you have to dyno reclass with a swap or aftermarket boost. but you can stick with the standard motor and class by every little engine and weight reduction point... there is no base class for swapped civic hatches... so there is some formula that is used.

Only when you dyno reclass, or when you engine swap, or turbo swap, or....Pretty much most people dyno reclass. I dont, cause he hates m3 for some reason and says im limited to 217whp with 3175lbs, while a stock s2000 at 2850lbs has the same horsepower...

Either way, its a tough system but seems to be working...for now...
