This car was converted to RWD by some method. Not sure how. Without knowing, I'd guess that a lot of the advantages of AWD are given up when you drag the entire driveline (extra weight and drag) down straights. That was my first thought when I heard it was converted. Pretty cool.

An old bellytanker from the late 40's/early 50's, probably made out of a surplus WWII airplane fuel tank.

This is the most famous one - the SoCal Speed Shop tanker driven by Alex Xydias.

When I was 15 I went to Bonneville speed week with my dad. Because the internet was less popular at the time, it was the first time I'd ever seen a rat-ish hot rod. Not really crazy over the top rat rods with skulls and crossbones and purposely rusted parts, etc. but not really fully polished candy paint cookie cutter hot rods either. Sort of in the middle of those two. That place attracts some really cool west coast hot rods, the kind of stuff I don't see around the mid atlantic very often. The people who drive them are nearly as interesting. I've never seen so many women in poodle skirts and men who look exactly like the Fonz in my entire life. Cars like the ones pictured are everywhere, and the entire event is really approachable. Wanna go walk up to a crew tuning a 300mph motorcycle? Do it. I really want to go back.
