WRXtranceformed Wrote:So I watched my buddy do that knife setup last night for a game or two...he went 20 something and 6 and like 33 and 20 on a more open map haha...awesome!
there were two kids doing that last night in one of my games. it was so frustrating, I felt as if I was in the matrix trying to shoot Neo.
Ran into more Javeglitchers over the weekend, fuck those guys. I finally unlocked the tac knife and was running around stabbing people only to get blown up by glitchers. In those cases I just reported them and switced to a different lobby.
Anyway, the slash and dash combo is pretty deadly but I'll have to work on my strategy. I think Marathon + Lightweight + Ninja is the way to go. If I use Commando for my last perk it gives me more range but takes away the element of surprise. Next time I play I might just use Cold-Blooded too so that I don't get killed by air support.
But yeah with the tac knife at first I was just running all over the place but clearly that doesn't work. I think the key is to kind of find hiding places then dash out when you see someone (visual, heartbeat sensor, or radar). Or if you can run through a relatively covered area to where people usually camp or whatever. The maps it worked great for me on were Highrise and Favela. Moderate success on Skidrow but only played it once.
One weapon I ran across yesterday that was really effective was some dudes wielding dual 1887's. One shot = dead, even from a good 15-20 feet out. I might have to try that one.

I was wondering what the hell was up with the Javelin guys when I was playing over the weekend. We were on Underpass and I was able to take them out from a fair distance, but a couple times they got close, and I was trying to figure out how the hell I died.
Playing catchup at this point since I didn't touch the multiplayer until Sat morning. Running around now just using the SCAR-H with a holo sight.
i suck at COD, but man its fun!

Anyone played Left for Dead 2? It's kind of fun if you're fucked up and you and a friend want to just blast a bunch of zombies. It sucks you can shoot your team mates though, especially with how hectic it gets with a billion zombies trying to bite your neck!
Still just waiting on Bioshock 2 really. I'll play CoD2 sometimes online but I get bored with it pretty quickly.

The whole Left for Dead series sucks a lot of balls. If you're going to make a game like that, at least make it look amazing.

Ok, so I've gotten better. I've gotten out of deathmatch and started playing some Domination.
Deathmatches are really frustrating. At level 10 (which I got last night before I quit) I just can't even think about standing toe to to with Double Shotgun Dude or Blast Shield Tactical Knife Guy. However, when pitch my tent by Alpha flag and wait for DSD to come lay down in front of it, I can actually feel like a valuable member of my team, and get some halfway decent points while I'm at it.
I might expand my repertoire to another game here soon, but I need to get this damned project done first.
I am glad to see that there are going to be patches for the unlimited care packages / SemtexJavelin exploits, although my guess is that not as many people REALLY got to use them as we think.
Also, I don't like playing when Julie is watching. She makes this judgmental noise when I die, like "WTF can't you stay alive? Jeez, how are you going to provide for this family when you can't even defend yourself against some pimply 12 year old with cheeto fingers?"
At least, that's what I hear.

So you're saying you camp near flags and just rack up points when people come to take the flag / plant the bomb? That's exactly why I don't end up playing that game a lot, it encourages camping. I actually prefer deathmatch even if I don't play enough to put up huge kill / death ratios, at least it gives you some incentive to move around the map.
I miss FPSs like UT2k4 back in the day. I don't think I've ever played a game that came even close to the difficulty and speed of that game against really good players.

I'd recommend trying DJ's suggestion of using the grenade launcher on domination. When I play domination I try to get my teammates to just hold two flags rather than running all over the place trying to hold flags randomly. If you can just securely hold two it's an easy win. I think once you start getting some of the more useful perks and a heartbeat sensor you'll find yourself getting a lot more kills (just don't stare at the sensor too much).
One thing I've been doing lately is picking the C4, planting it at the flag, then hiding in wait of the other team. I've gotten a few triple and quad kills that way.

Oh, I see Javeglitchers every time I play. I usually just report them and move on. The funny ones are the guys that glitch and end up getting killed almost every time they try without taking anyone with them. I've never seen the unlimited care package thing though.
Another dumb thing I've seen is two guys will be talking in the match lobby (clearly friends), then if they get put on opposing teams to use the tactical insertion and one guy kills the other guy 25 times in a row in order to get the nuke. Stupid ass shit but what are you gonna do.

23 kills is my best. if i ever get 25, i doubt i'll have the nuke loaded up since it's such a waste for 99.9% of games.

Uh, how would you suggest you play it?
Look, the reality of it is that there are 3 flags. If you go to take one, you should bring a friend, and toss some grenades around hiding places. You can't "camp" everywhere (even though it doesn't meet the traditional definition of camping) because there just aren't enough people. If you run in and hump a flag without looking around first, you deserve for my slow as to shoot you in the face, plain and simple.

I've been nuked twice
does that count?
and MW3 info
highest I got was 17, even if I did get to 25 kills, I dont have nuke as one of my packages so it would be a waste.

Right I understand that's the strategy for any of the capture the flag / bomb plant & diffuse game types but it doesn't make it fun. It takes a lot of the skill of that type of game away.

I hate MW2 because I suck at it. Like really suck. I'm stuck in this fierce cycle of being so far behind that I want to stop playing after 3 games of going 3 and 8... which just puts me farther behind. I played Hardcore Deathmatch last night with a friend. Fuck that shit. I think I went 0 and 17 in 3 games. I'm pretty sure co-op Spec Ops is going to be my thing 'cause I'm never gonna catch up.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
Tune into the Spike VGA's tomorrow night at 8 to see a long trailer for Halo Reach. It's still a long ways off but hopefully the multiplayer beta will show up next summer. I heard GTA V is gonna be shown too but I'm not sure.

New graphics engine looks good but I thought the trailer was anti-climatic. Didn't have the sense of drama that it should have. Here are some guys about to go to battle to defend one of human kind's last strongholds and the demeanor was as ho-hum as some guys carpooling to work.
Oh well, at least it looks good.
