I'm planning on the weekend of May 10th OR May 17th being the paint weekend for the XR. Is anyone else up for some painting?

Unlikely I'll have anything to paint by then, but if you do it on the 10th I'm definitely interested in joining in on the antics.

I can't do either weekend but if anything, I'd be interested in just getting the hardtop on my Miata done. If you guys wanna practice on that, I can get it up there somehow, or maybe Dave can take it in his truck if he's towing whatever car needs to be painted?

You may want to shoot jeff an email and see if the garage's paint booth is available for use? It's entirely possible that it's not, but...

And if you get this shower curtain booth thing going, document it well, please. A small-scale setup could definitely be beneficial to YT...

Good idea. If anyone sees him care to ask? I'm not sure they want a bunch of first-time painters in their booth but it's worth a shot!

haha, I can get it there and its not like a critical part so if you wanted to use it for practice, you can, thats all I'm sayin'

If this turns out to happen let me know and I can give ahelping hand. I have alot of knowledge in body work and painting cars. I have a couple write ups on where I restored a 65' mustang it was a cool project. And it turned out great.

Update - I am doing this on the weekend of May 17th

Next weekend will be final prep on the car. More bondo, lots of sanding, etc. I'll get all the supplies after that and we'll make this happen. I still haven't decided if I'm doing Single Stage or 2 part with clear...

Single Stage. Much easier to 'repair' in the future, much cheaper, much easier, much faster. I see no downsides to single stage on anything other than a 100% outside car or a show car.

i'm down for some moral support, my car is no where near ready, nor do i have the means to get it read for painting.
I might consider painting some removable parts(spoiler, hood, etc) at some point.
Where should I buy paint in the burg? I know there is a paint supply store on South Main is that a good place?

XR is well on its way to being "prepped!" RS 500 parts are all on and secure, glass is removed, badges are off, and waiting for some skim coats of bondo to dry. Next step is to sand it all, wash it, and see where I need to go from there!

Sorry Pete. I should've told you that I would driving Shenandoah this weekend. Anytime that happens, there's a 70% chance of rain all weekend and guaranteed 100% chance that it will rain at least one day.

It rained here all night and is predicted to continue all day, so I am hoping that this front gets out of here by tomoorow and the fun can commence. Then it'll rain on Sunday so Andy doesn't get upset ;-).
