might as well just save the money on trying to covert a sporting gun to HD use and just buy an inexpensive HD gun.. Check out the NEF Pardner Protector.. Based off of the 870 so 95% of aftermarket 870 accessories will fit it..

Absolutely not. A HD shotgun is so unbelievably cheap that there is no reason to destroy a gift from your grandparents. I will not assist you.

Also, the things that make a good HD shotgun make it a pretty terrible sporting clays shotgun. Keep the 870 for Sporting Clays & Posterity and buy a Pardner, or Chuck Daly, or Mossy 590 for defending your hearth.

I told him just to buy a damn 12ga Mossy and toss a stock on that...move up to a big boy gun and save that one for his son...or daughter.

Plan on buyin a cheapo NORINCO or H&R for under 200. And getting full size stocks for the 870, to use for skeet. Convert it back to youth for my first born.

thank you justin.... Save the 870 so you can pass it down... Guns are investments and family heirlooms...

If anyone (over 21) is looking for a "good deal" a local funshop has Smith & Wesson .38Spl wheelguns for 225-250 (Blued or Stainless). They look like ex-police guns, but it's a pretty good deal if you're looking to defend yourself without spending an assload of money.

Let me know and I'll go in and look when you turn 21. It really is a great deal if you're looking for something to "start" with.

Def... I always wanted to pick up a .38 snubbie

EDIT: is it a snubbie or like a 3" barrel?

Not a snubbie. It looks like a standard Smith Service Revolver...I'm thinking maybe a 4" barrel? It's a standard k-frame, like maybe a model 10 or something. I don't know much about wheelguns, as there is no Pistol but Automatic and John Moses Browning (pbuh) is it's prophet.

We've been in there a couple of times. The guy that owns it sold Rex's mom my buttstock for my AR back before Christmas, before he was even open. He's seriously good people and he's getting some major retail contracts coming down the way. We should majorly support this guy, because if you have tried to do any gun shopping in H'burg, you soon realize that if you aren't hunting they don't want much to do with you. A tactical shop is the way to go, and he's starting to put together quite a selections. Currently, he's having a hard time keeping stuff on the shelves.

+1... he opened his doors to the shop, in the snow storm, before the official openning... just so i could get my hands on some magpul gear. he's even agreed to participate in the next big project of mine.
