it was used against me in trials yesterday. it was not fun

i'm 365 now. did the raid minus the last part (heard you really want to be 370+ for that). still enjoying it. not sure i've ever continued to enjoy (after a long hiatus) for years after release.

Ha nice, I didn't like it much in standard PvP (no light level effects) but I'll reserve judgement until I take it into trials or IB this week. You will eventually be fine at 365, we pulled a few sub 360s through the final part, although it's not ideal. They are just too squishy and don't deal enough dps. At 383 I'm more than pulling their weight in DPS especially when using the cannons

Made it to the Lighthouse with my Warlock this weekend, the new Trials armor with ornaments looks REALLY cool. I haven't used up an ornament yet as I need a few of them to do it and don't really like the roll I got on the arms. Sweet chest piece though! I almost went again with my Titan last night, but I got booted from our 4th match mid-match, some kind of Destiny server error, right as I was dropping a Truth rocket on a dude to finish off our win. Unfortunately whether you leave or get booted it counts as a loss, and that burned up my mercy boon. We lost again on the 8th match but won our 9th and 10th, so I would have made it again if it weren't for Bungie's stupid server issues. Hopefully in Destiny 2 they will have dedicated servers because it's one of the big things that gives me such an Ike and Tina Turner relationship with this game. All is well though, if I have time tonight I'll try it again with my Titan. Hard mode raid drops on the 18th and I am hoping to be 387 on all characters by then

I did make a Hunter a while back as a sympathy play for a buddy of mine who got his Hunter main deleted due to a Bungie server issue and have him at 386 light. I don't particularly like playing him at all so pretty much just use him as a feeder for infusion gear for my other characters, and it also helped me hit some PvP grimoire and the last trophies I haven't had before.

did full raid yesterday at 373. was cake compared to when doing it lower. also got that outbreak prime. hello, 377 still have 365 chest somehow :/ i think that means i haven't had a chest drop in about two weeks.

I'm gonna have to break from Destiny for awhile, the light level progression is just too punishing. During this Iron Banner I've gotten probably about a dozen pieces of armor/weapons in a row that are 354/355. Faction packages, Crucible packages, IB drops, all stuff not giving me any progress. If I really put my A game on and play very conservatively I can do ok in Iron Banner but anything different and I get demolished. I don't feel like grinding strikes for hours just to get to the level where I can raid, so I'm gonna bow out for awhile.

What's weird is that progress was just humming along, I was getting decent drops and didn't have to grind at all. Then I hit a wall.

Protip for the n00bs: Next time Xur comes in to town, buy as many stacks of heavy ammo synths as you can. Then go to whatever faction leader you have aligned with and turn them in for XP. Faction levels are one of the best ways to get higher light gear. Make sure to equip each new piece so that your light is higher BEFORE you level up and accept the faction package. I jumped 8 light levels in one day doing this.

Also make sure you pop 3 of Coins before literally everything. Exotics almost always decode at a higher light level (again make sure you are already a high light level before you decrypt engrams).

The real grind is from 386 to hit 387, which I think all of the streamers agree is the cap right now until hard mode drops. I'm like 3 or 4 light away on my warlock but I'm stuck

Yeah I don't know what's going on, almost every faction package I had drop and almost every engram encoded higher. There was a lull spot also at like 380 I think and 380-385 was a little grindy but the same trick helped me get through it.

I can't get the stupid raid boots to drop on my warlock or finish out a complete set so I can get the raid shader. As a side note, all of my characters can equip to 387 and I got the Rise of Iron book ship last night! It looks really cool. Ready for the hard raid next week!

Next Tuesday's hard raid Destiny update should help you guys stuck on light level:

On October 18th, corresponding with the release of Heroic Mode for Wrath of the Machine, your Maximum Light will be increased to 400. With this increase, many reward sources will also increase their maximum Light. Strike Hoards, Nightfall, Exotic Engrams, Trials of Osiris, Crucible, and Iron Banner will now provide rewards up to 400 Light. Archon’s Forge, the Heroic SIVA Strike playlist, and Legendary Engrams will now provide rewards up to 385 Light. Rare Engrams and the SIVA Strike Playlist will now provide rewards up to 365 Light. The recommended Light for these activities will remain the same with the exception of Nightfall, which will be increased to a recommended light of 380. For those striving to reach Heroic Wrath of the Machine or even attempt their first run at Normal Wrath of the Machine, players should find more paths and options available to them to reach the recommended Light.

For players forging their path through Wrath of the Machine, Trials of Osiris, and Iron Banner, these activities will now attempt to reward higher Light on average, compared to your current Light.

Artifacts and Ghosts were dropping from fewer sources than intended and have been added as Archon’s Forge completion rewards. These items will now drop up to 400 Light. In Faction Packages, the rate at which Ghosts are rewarded has been increased. Likewise, the rate of artifacts from Eris’ Faction Packages have been increased.

I'm glad they're fixing stuff way faster than before. Maybe I'll pop back on this weekend for a little bit. Don't think I'll return to my normal frequency until I can at least raid on normal difficulty.
