damn, sorry to hear Jeff. is the mopar community really so hard up for vendors? there's got to be someone, somewhere who can get you what seems to be a fairly plentiful turbo for a decent price in a decent amount of time.
that said, i hate getting yanked around too. post up your experience on you mopar board, maybe that will hit home for them.

Well, I called TU today to request my refund. After Chris answered the phone and I identified myself he says...
"OH JEFF! Good news buddy! I got your turbo in today!"
I told him I was calling for a refund. We discussed the situation and I decided to take turbo and suck up my other financial problems. So all my stuff is on the way. The only bone he though me was an upgrade to polybushings on the motor mount. Kinda sucks. He didn't even upgrade the shipping.

Ok, so I woke up at noon and Sylvia and I decided to head up to Woodstock and get this going again! Back-story I forgot to post, we got our virgin Turbonetics ÔÇ£Mopar Super 60ÔÇØ from TU and our ECU came in from FWD-P
Computers side by side, old on the left new on the right.
Close up of my custom chip.
Turbo as we got it!
Wonderful huh? Makes me smile every time I see it! Anyway, we installed the turbo and exhaust manifold on the engine. Also, I removed the old 48mm throttlebody and ported the intake to accept the 52mm TB from a 3.0L V6.
The Throttlebodies
![[Image: DSC00591Medium.jpg]](http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c133/TurboOmni08/DSC00591Medium.jpg)
The larger one is to the right, a full 4mm larger in diameter I had to remove a sizable amount of metal from the intake so the larger butterfly would clear. It supposedly adds up to 5hpbut some say it takes up to 4mpg off fuel economy!
My metal collection rig
The final result
FABULOUS AS ELTON JOHN!
I got the TB for free and the intake porting was cake. No reason to port the runners on a 1 piece intake.
So, anyway, here is an assortment of pics from installing the turbo. This turbo is internally wastegated and sports the largest stock swingvalve of 2.5in. I further ported it and removed most of the large ridge that is on the back wall. I purchased a large can WG actuator from an 89 TII Car, mine was MIA. Also, the exhaust manifold is fully ported and has the EGT probe installed in the 4th exhaust runner.
Then we slapped it on the engine will all new hardware. The lines are TUÔÇÖs stainless steel braded lines w/ AN fittings.
Well kids, thatÔÇÖs all for today! Got some ish done didnÔÇÖt we?! Check the poll at the top for the new important question! And as always, give some feedback.

one of my favorite parts is still that valve cover yo valve cova brings all the girlz to da yardddd
looks great man. interesting way those mopars work, i've never seen a turbo oriented to sit on the end runners of a manifold like that. hows the software, is that vendor a pretty good tuner?

looking good Jeff, looks like it is coming together very well. Am I correct in seeing that your engine does not have a cross-flow head? Are you worried bout the turbo heating up the intake manifold and therefore increasing intake temps?
I'm with Scotty, that turbo orientation flips me out. On the 240, many of the turbo setups specify which way the turbo curls, but it always screws with my head when figuring it into a FWD setup.
hrm, I may have voted incorrectly. My vote on the LSD is not to buy it right now. If you already have it, I guess go ahead and install it. If you don't have it, spend the money to get the car running, you can always install it later.
I would think not to install b/c it just becomes another thing that could go wrong that you would have to sort out after the fact just to get it driveable. I would rather know the engine is running properly and sort all the other little things before I start screwing with the drivetrain.
My vote on the LSD is to wait and do it over the winter. If you put it together now without the LSD we have to pull the tranny again hock:

Thanks as always Scotty. The Valve Cover Version 2.0 is even hotter. Has a more candy finish. I can't wait to bust it out and put it on. The turbo is in a end collector, which is odd. Its really for the amount of space that there is behind the engine. A center collector, "TBI Header" manifold is often made from an early TBI manifold with a turbo flange welded on. It is supposed to spool quicker. But on the smaller cars you have to "massage" the firewall to make it fit, it is much longer away from the engine. As far as the ECU, it was a tune done to my specs. It will require some minor hardware tuning once the car is running but it should be ballparked about right. It is a 3-bar cal set to I think 18psi. If I were to hook it up with stock boost control that is what it would run at. But I am using manual boost control and will set it down around 14 to start out and take it as high as 22 or 25psi on the highside once I have a 5000 or so miles on it. FWD-P is supposed to be better at tuning 3-bars but not as good at 2-bar cals (under 14.4psi)

Yeah, the head is "non-crossflow" and yes, it does make baby Jesus cry. But its ok, its an 8v powerhouse! As far as intake temps, no one else worried about it so I'm not gonna! Just stick a big ole' honkin front mount on her and go! I was thinking about making a heat sheild...but it will just be one more thing to rattle and piss me off. Also, I am torn on the LSD. Sylvia is with you, put it together and fuck with it later. But I don't want to end up like Travis, famous for my one wheel burnouts. The LSD I am looking at is a "Phantom Grip Type" LSD but supposedly has been redesigned by this guy specifically for our application and has a slightly different setup then a traditional phantom grip. It comes with the LSD block, two springs, new spider gears, and a new diff pin. The deal was $315 for the diff and a chrome-moly endplate for the transmission, which I read is a common failure item under heavy (drag racing) use. Anyway, I think it might be fun to drive it for awhile then take it apart and see how the insides are doing later. I always love an opportunity to tare apart a TD!

This argument is what gets me. I want to get the car back together and worry about it later. But the price deal, and the time, might not be there to do it in 5 months. Its not a big deal to pull a tranny out of a TD, as we both know. And the 5-speeds are even easier then the autos. But $300 isn't too much money...and I could very easily save for a month of paychecks and get it. But then I think about my loan coming due...and then that makes no sense. So its a tough decision.
Anyone else have thoughts on this?

the only reason i voted to do the LSD now is that you've pulled so many trannys this will probably be cake for you.
its more dough up front, but ultimately this car is about having fun, and i imagine that once it's running you'll be having too much fun to stop and put that LSD in!

I vote to get her running. I started getting into that whole...Ohhh I could do this while its apart, or that..or this, and I just got sidetracked with projects which would have had y car down for ages. So I decided, get her together and enjoy her, there is always another time I could install those things.

You will be buying a $315 pile of dogshit. It will wear out your spider gears as the diff "works" and if it doesnt blow the diff up, it will just turn itself into an open diff.
Hold out until you can get something that doesnt suck. If you cant find anything, then OPM will build you a phantom grip type LSD that sucks less than the phantom grip for about $700.

If the "Phantom Grip Type" LSD is anything like the one for SHOs don't waste your time or money. If you do insist on installing it start searching for spare transmission.

Agreed it rips apart your internals, if its anything like apparently integras, SHOs, and dsms lol.

It doesnt "rip apart" the internal bits of your transmission by any means.
But what does happen is the spider gears wear down, and it is effectively an open diff again. Very rarely will something break and lunch the whole trans, but it does happen.

so given the new info, save the $$ and look for a real LSD to put in. Meanwhile, pay note and start enjoying the car.
BTW, I think Travis only got joked on about the one wheel wonder b/c he drag raced, which made him a really easy target since he had to do burnouts before he actually launched for the race.
like its been said time and time again. get the car running! its a sweet project and i am amazed at how much attention to detail you've given it, but it'll never stop unless you actually get it running.

We're not just being jackasses. Most of us have been there and done that. Get it going and enjoy it so when you're back under your pile in 3 weeks adding more parts, you can at least have some memories of driving it.
Two feet.
Yeah, just get it running. It will give you an idea of which type of LSD to get and an appreciation for it when it is in. Plus, driving it will give you energy to work on it more.
Plus, and not to be a "naysayer" you will probably have several small problems creeping up as you break it in. These too will require a little cash and a lot of emotional patience. It took me a year of track events to get the XR to a somewhat reliable state.

Actually for DSMs it does rip the transmission apart. When the phantom grip goes it takes out the center diff and possibly the vce, and if not taken out soon enough it can rip apart the transmission gears, and cause stress on your front and rear differentials.....
