you want that trash but not a real racing game?
who are you people?
I find "real racing" games boring to be honest. It's like driving a car, minus all the fun parts. I'm sure they would be really fun if you were in one of those hydraulic setups that simulate acceleration, but without that they're just dull.
My two favorite racing games were NFS Underground 2 and Forza Horizons. Haven't gotten to try the second one yet.

I'm not gonna lie I had way more fun on the old NFS Underground making a sick widebody SLR and crashing it into stuff than I ever did playing any of the Forza games. Call that the ricer in me

Precursor. Sorry. Mixed up my words.
Thank you Stephen, Taylor and Joey. You guys summed up all my thoughts in three. Rex, if you get it, I'll respark that inner boy racer in you!

Gran Turismo style mainstream "racing" games has ruined a whole generation on racing games. A 3 lap race where you pass all the other cars on the straights, bounce off the walls in the corners, but still win to collect 'credits' and buy another car is boring and tedious, and puts the goal of the game (collecting cars, licenses, etc) in the absolute wrong place
Going toe to toe with equal cars, 3 cars wide into turn 1 knowing that one little fuckup and you are toast for the whole race or spending 3 laps just to set up a pass for 1 position gets your blood pumping like no other video game ive played

This. I've never sweated so much playing a racing game as I did playing Ferrari Challenge. Then again, I've never rage restarted a race so many times.
I think you nailed what is tedious and dumb about the CarPG's. I hate having to do all that grinding to get the cars I want, and to be honest I'd rather have a handful of super realistic cars than 800 cars that aren't all that different. Im hoping Project CARS is more of the former.
Then again, maybe I need to finally break down and pay for iRacing.

Can't we all agree they're exactly like Destiny? Awesome at first... then you realize you're wasting hours of your life doing the exact same thing to earn more configurations than you could possibly hope to make use of. SNOOZE.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

I lost interest after I think New Vegas or whatever...not any real amount of innovation there just the same thing in a different setting from what I remember.

New Vegas wasn't really innovative in any real gameplay sense. It used the same engine, same basic sprites/models...but the storytelling was pretty wildly different and much more Black Isle-esque Fallout.

I never played NV, but I loved Fallout 3. I'm trying not to get too hyped up because it'll probably be "Fallout 3: Vault Stories" optimized for social on-the-go interactive mobile device play or something, but ZOMG IT MIGHT BE FALLOUT 4.
