Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy
I just went from $231/mo to $177. Woot!

I think its a combination of some tickets falling off of my record and getting closer to 25. It's still probably time to start shopping the M3 around for agreed value coverage, i've probably given my insurance company more money to insure the M3 than I'd get back from them if it got totaled at this point. I don't need to insure it for 100% of what I have in it, but $10k+ would be nice so I could replace it with a similar toy in the event of the unimaginable.

Check your deductible, do you have any other tickets? I still have one ticket and with the sierra and z06 at comprehensive, and the M3 at liability; all 3 only add up to $155 a month.

Both cars are full coverage, both have $500 collision and comprehensive deductibles.

I'm sure the age difference is a factor. Otherwise it could just be that we have different coverage levels or maybe you're getting a car + house bundle discount or something.

Looks like the only ticket still on my record is the one David M and I picked up on the way to the MM cruise September 2013, so I have another 18 months or so to atone for that.

There's your big difference between our rates. I dropped mine to $500 once my premiums dropped to the point where I could afford it. I'm not sure what I'd pay if I brought it back to $1k.

Don't you have a fresh reckless driving ticket? You gonna be paying a premium for a while.

Just switched back to Geico as they had the best rate for my needs 300/300/300 all 4 cars comprehensive/collision. Jess and I just got married so I was hoping it would help out with rates when we combined (wouldnt let us till we were married). I also took offf coverage off the M3, but it was the cheapest of all cars All this helped...by a lot!

Seperate Policies:
Jess Jeep: $872/year
Dj Sierra/Z06/M3: $1946/year
Total/Year: $2,818/year

Jeep/Sierra/Z06
New Quote Erie: $1850/year
New Quote Allstate: $2000/year
New Quote/Final Price Geico: $1470/year

Wow, nice savings DJ! I need to shop around. I've had Geico since I started driving and I think I have a good rate, but clearly it pays to look elsewhere every so often.

So did you drop coverage completely on the M3?

On the LS1/M3. I just don't have the time to work on it. And once it is done, it is immediately up for sale.

The M3 race car has no coverage because insurance doesn't matter on race cars. You get seperate STP (storage, trailer, paddock) insurance for race cars.

Had our homeowner's insurance through Liberty Mutual, got the renewal documents and they are quoting a 23% higher rate for the year? And we have had no claims, ever? You must not want my business.

Liberty Mutual are pretty bad with the rate hikes. Look into Eerie Insurance. We have our house and cars bundled and they had the best rates by far for the coverage we were looking for. Good customer service as well.

Mine just got jacked as well. My car insurance does this as well and I pulled mine down by 40% just by switching... Gotta switch my homeowners now. The "bundle" they make a big about is bullshit. $35 discount? really? So mine are separate as it is a better deal...for now.

Using Hartford. Never contacted customer service yet but I hear they are decent. They were the second lowest for me besides Geico. Cross shopped them with Eerie, Geico, Progessive, Allstate, and State Farm.

$1,400 a year for 50/100 with a $500 deductible on a 2010 Mazda3 with a clean record. Pretty high but whatever. Sucks owning a common car for young people that drive like derps.

Will be only paying for 6 months this next time in April because I plan to take it off the road next Fall. Hopefully it isn't too much more expensive. Price didn't change last year.

Liberty mutual did the same thing to me a few years back, sounds like it's a pretty common thing with them.
