Mandatory corporate team building events. I come here to work, and for nothing else. I work, they pay, that is as deep as I want my relationship with a company to go. I don't want to make friends, I want to do work, and get my paycheck.
But for fuck's sake, if you are going to hold me hostage to it, why make it a painting class of all things? I guess bowling, the movies, happy hour, karting, paintballing, rock climbing, or that "escape the room" thing have too much universal appeal huh? Yeah let's make it a skill-based, messy activity that only appeals to a very narrow segment of the population. It'd be like if I planned the thing and forced everyone to take a vehicle maintenance lesson. "Ok fuckers, get your overalls on and find an oil filter wrench!" Goddammit. Haha, I actually enjoy out of the office team stuff, but I have a really awesome work team and we do it right. A few weeks ago they flew all of us (including the dev team) out to Scottsdale, put us up in a casino for a few days and we had a few epic dinners and hiked Camelback Mtn., went to Top Golf etc. We have two more coming up where we have a box suite at a Blackhawks game and I think we are going to be doing indoor skydiving in January.

^ Yeah, doing something actually cool is one thing. Giving you a shitty catered lunch and locking you into the conference room at the end of the hall for four hours is just bullshit.
As much of a shitshow as AOL was we at least had fun. We used to go bowling somewhat frequently and always had a slightly-drunken blast. I've been at this place for over 2 years, this is the first team-building thing they've thought to do for us, and it's this miserable bullshit. Now: 07 Porsche Cayman S | 18 VW Tiguan

WRXtranceformed Wrote:"Parking for Expectant Mothers" There is a label I have in mind for young able males that don't care about other people and park their v8 barka-lounger cock-extensions in a parking spot given as a courtesy to others. You know what really grinds my gears?! People with no patience at stores. The people that are yelling and getting pissy at the cash register employee/customer that are trying their best to get it done as fast as possible; and these people don't care. There are exceptions when the employee or customer is actually stupid or doesn't care. However in a lot of cases this person just got dealt a shitty hand and is trying to do what they can.

Being that person trying to get through a small parking lot with my truck and some jackass decides it okay to park his Yukon XL in a compact space means I have to do a 3-point turn to get around them. No sympathy for those assholes. Should stick my hitch back in and take out their front bumpers. Wow I got angry quick about that

To pile onto that:
1.) People who park their massive trucks/suvs in end spaces just because they want to. The spots aren't marked compact, but have some goddamn sense and dont park your F-250 Crew Cab Long Bed or Yukon XL where people have to make blind turns. 2.) People who don't slow the fuck down or stay on the right side of the lane in parking decks. I've literally lost count of the amount of times I've had to SLAM on the brakes as I creep up to a corner made blind by a Yukon XL spilling out of its spot, only to have some maniac nearly clip my front bumper flying around it in the other direction at 25mph in the middle of the lane. We all park in there every single day, how long does it take to realize that there's traffic moving both directions and you can't see around any of the corners?! Yeah, exercise is good for everyone, I get it. Ever consider the fact that you're an able-bodied guy who can handle walking a farther distance into the store, whereas an 8-month-pregnant woman might have a harder time of it? I just don't see the need to look at the sign and consciously make the decision to be a prick and swing your Jaaaaaaag in there. :dunno: Same deal for the handicapped spots. Yes, someone may not look physically disabled, but how do you know they haven't had two hip replacements and qualify for that placard hanging on the mirror? Just because they're not 85 and using a walker doesn't mean they don't need it. I will happily park my 13 mpg Yukon (which is a "compact" compared to the 19-inches-longer Yukon XL, fuckers  ) in the "fuel efficient only" spots, unless there's an EV charger there that I'd be blocking. Prius drivers may not be as able-minded as the rest of us but they are usually just as able-bodied, so we can all walk from the same distance in that case.

To pile on, when parking is limited, as it often is in NOVA at lunchtime, and the only spaces left are "Reserved for Curbside-to-go Customers" guess where I'm parking? I'm still buying shit from you, I'm still taking it to go, I'm just walking in and ordering instead of calling and making you bring it out to me.

My wife feels the same way, and she doesn't seem to care about having to walk a little further if she has to when she gets pregnant. I know we're not the only ones, but you all can feel free to don your sympathy hats for the poor and suffering pregger trophy wives rollin deep in their Escalades. Also: I was kind of expecting the note about "not knowing whether or not someone is actually handicapped". Come on man I'm not that callused to think that there aren't people who deserve a sticker that you couldn't tell by looking at them. I knew a girl at JMU whose sister was handicapped and she used to use her family's handicapped hang tag so that she could park right next to class on campus. I KNOW those people exist and I see them all the time, perfectly healthy-looking younger 30 somethings running into the grocery store with their gym clothes on. YOU ALL ARE SO SENSITIVE AND EASY TO RUSTLE IT'S ALMOST NOT EVEN FUN
