Im not sure what the Nasa CCR says about roll bars, but make sure you reference the roll cage section. You dont want to have to rip it out later or weld in other bars when you extend it to a cage. Also be aware of the minimum tubing diameter and thickness for the weight of your car. The spec E30 guys should know all this
