I used a platform that was about 1.5' tall, built out of 4x4's,2x6's, and sone 9/16" Plywood (you want it strong). Definatley get a platform, it makes it that much better.

Then, I used some 2" Metal conduit attached to some flanges with some plumbing attachments to both the platform AND the celing. It is VERY important that thsi thing is built well and built strong, there were several times that there were 5 people on the platform with 2 peopel literlaly hanging from teh pole. Remember, the drunker you get, the better you think you can dance, and the more likely you will be to get up there.

I put soem blakc fabric around the edge of the platform, and then some X-mas lights to mark the edge. Under the platform was the fog machine. It was pretty effective, G can vouch for that. If you want, you supply the parts and I'll supply the experience and labor.
