From everything I read online, stock android is the only way to go it still sucks compared to iOS.
Yeah Google is also a internet search and software company, not so much on the strengths with the hardware. Operating system is only one piece of making a successful cell phone. Samsung has been doing it for a long time. Apple is even buying most of their hardware directly from Samsung!

For real though. "To improve battery life"? How many times do you think that idea went around the marketing meeting before they were like "welp, that's the best we got"
Considering all of my issues are likely due to software problems, the hardware is irrelevant in this conversation.
Possibru, but hardware and software coming together not harmoniously is what usually makes battery life the suck
