If I want to make a bomb, that'd work perfect. I need to be able to take a 12vdc input and charge a 12v(nominal) battery with it. Without just pouring electrons into it until it explodes. It's not providing the power, it's the maintenance.
I'm basically building a boombox, and I want it to run on a rechargeable battery or, when a DC power supply is plugged into the wall, I want it to run off of that instead of the battery and I want the battery to charge until it is full.
