I can upgrade through the remainder of my contract to 1gigdown/1gigup for $99.95/mo. Think it's worth it? Should I chase world dominance with a faster than light (FTL) internets speed for $20 / month more than I have to pay now? (which is $25/mo more than I was paying)

Think you answered your own question.

Well yeah but I was referring to TV there not internet speed. We stream a lot now with all of the Roku devices, Playstation gaming, laptops / phones and my workstation. We may also be adding a camera and doorbell system that operates on wifi

The camera and doorbell system are LAN, aren't they? If so, irrelevant towards your internet speeds. Even if you were to check them from outside of your network, that would mean you weren't home and therefore, not using the internet connection.

Leave it as is, 500 down is plenty. As i said in the other thread, i have two streams of Directvnow and/or netflix going on at the same time, with Toni and I both surfing the web on laptops or phone and have no issues at 60down. Hell, i even host a plex server that friends access and have seen them doing that at the same time and been fine. Save yourself the money and stay at 500.
