Or something like that.As many GTs that are actually out there, I imagine that these ground effects arent in real high demand. However, I'm not really sure if there is a market, so these are very viable options. Plus, shit breaks all the time so we still have potential to get rid of it. Anything is better than nothing.
KPWSerpiente Wrote:Honestly, fund raising should come first. Money for a car should be collected and or raised...I think spending anything more than 500 dollars on the car itself will be too much but maybe determining an upper limit would be a good step as well. Once the money is in the club funds...then the real discussion on what kind of vehicle we can run should be discussed.Agreed. Do you guys think that we should open a seperate club account solely for GRM funding? By doing this, we'll net interest off of it over the time that we build it up, which will in turn make us have to work a little less (yeah, we'll make a couple bucks, but its better than nothing). If so, I can take care of this over the winter break very easily.
KPWSerpiente Wrote:Also...this is a point I meant to bring up but hadn't yet. This car can serve as more than just a GRM competition car. What about all those freshman who don't have a ride to autox in? After this car has completed the competition, or maybe even before, we should bring it to autoxes and other motorsport events and allow club members to take turns driving it.This is an idea I've been toying with lately. The only problem with this is that we have to find a storage point for the vehicle and have to register it in a person's name. If we are going to trailer it, then we can bypass the registration issue, but we still will have to store it. The good thing is that it will give the opportunity for others to get into motorsports, but the bad thing is that stuff breaks all the time and we cant really use club funds to fix it and there are lots of little logistics things that go along with this. Somebody mentioned the idea of selling it off last meeting. I like this idea, where we could also make a bit of our money back (either another GRM or money for club) and possibly make a charitable donation. A lot of this stuff will get worked out over time, but its all little things that we need to keep in mind. Number one priority now, as you stated, would be to get the funds rolling so we can start to play.
And I second Rex's desire for Travis on the pit crew. Just because your wheels spin easily doesn't mean you can't help the club gain notoriety and the best mufuggin' college car club on the East Coast. :-p
