Do you need Windows? just asking cause you can get a nice Chromebook for surfing the interwebs, watching pron, etc

I want a real OS, yes. I already have one "hindered" device (iPad 4 w/Retina) so I need a full-featured machine with either Windows or OS X, for the sake of things like iRacing, various BMW diagnostic software, photo editing, etc.
