Got my Kindle Fire HDX last week. Absolutely love this thing.
Went with the 7" WiFi only model. Keep in mind my only real experience, other than occasionally using my girlfriend's iPad 2/3 (whatever the previous version to the just released one is, their naming structure now confuses me), was the HP TouchPad I had that I installed Android on.
Anyway, screen is amazing, love the weight and feel of the device. Light enough for me not to mind carrying it around and easy for me to write out quick e-mails. The speakers are awesome, especially when considering their size, and the WiFi has great range. The 2.2GHz processor is pretty snappy, haven't had any hiccups there. I am able to play FIFA 14' (for free in the Amazon store, not sure if it is in Google Play) without any lag whatsoever, and relatively little drain on the battery, so the GPU is serving pretty well too. As I just indicated, battery life has been pretty sweet too, I'm getting about two days out of it with a several hours of gaming and streaming videos thrown in there.
Another cool benefit was that I forgot I had the Amazon App store on my old Evo, so I could sync all those apps up to the Kindle. Best one was the OfficeSuite I downloaded for free ($8-$15 normally) so that was cool. Other than that the native e-mail app has a great interface, kind of reminds me of the HP's (not the android boot).
Overall really happy with it, and great bang for the buck for $229.
