Yes, but not the first and only time I drove one. A friend's was much better, but it is still a kit car. Does not have that "finesse" that a modern porsche, bmw, and (yes) a modern corvette. I think the big problem is that I had built it up in my mind a lot more than can be reasonably expected out of a "kit" car.
I certainly wouldnt do a "donor build". Therefore my want reduced, as to get it the way I want it, I would have to go the expensive route. Full tilton brake/clutch setup, flaming river steering rack, IRS kit (which is still just a thunderbird rear suspension), and massive tires. The car doesn't have the grip it should have considering the components, so you have to make it up with tire.
Edit: Remember, most Factory Five Cobras (if we are talking reasonable pricing here under $50k), are built from Fox-Body mustang parts, probably one of the worst cars ever to pull steering, and rear solid axle suspension/geometry from. (sorry Matt)
