Yep, there are plenty of things out there that, to the end user, are just as good in the short term (1-3 years) and their shittyness is pretty transparent. Long term, my dell stuff is hit & miss. I've had plenty of component failures to deal with and some with just shitty design from the beginning. But, most of us dont look at the true lifetime cost of things.
I wont buy an apple computer anytime soon, but I get it, and I have no interest in replacing my iphone/ipad.
