I think it's a big factor. The Lumia 920 looks great, WindowsPhone is cool, but I'm so heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem, that it would be a hassle to switch away.
And, I'm with Jon&friends -- I recognize that there are better phones from a hardware specs perspective. But... cool as Android is, it isn't as polished as iOS, and I want a phone that "just works" all the time. My iPhone 4 has held up very, very well and aside from occasional glitches that require a reboot of the phone (as any smartphone will have), nothing major has happened to make me go "awfuck I'm switching OS's."
The other thing that bugs me -- and it's what you get for licensing your OS to so many OEMs to make the hardware -- is how Google can release a new cutesy-named version of Android, and you get it when you get it. It's a guessing game. When Apple releases iOS 6, everyone who's phone can handle it will get it on September 19. Boom, done.
