Mountain kings are great for the leafy, loose, shitty trail surfaces that you get in fall and winter. Continental has had some pretty big QC issues this year with the 'new' mountain king tire, I have just abandoned them until I have reliable info that they've fixed their problems.... Maxxis Ardents are supposed to be a pretty good alternative, or if you can find them on sale somewhere the Schwalbe nobby nic, they're a bit spendy at full price.
If you want fast summer tires I've been really happy with the Maxxis Ikon, but on a bike with that much travel you probably want something with more volume.
