The tires thread "So I need tires..."

I know there is no Discount Tire(brick and mortar) locations in Virginia, but I think they are in North Carolina, and are all over Texas. I had a great experience with them on Saturday. Got 215/45R17 Kumho Ecsta AST mounted on my 15 spoke Euros. I had previously had Falken Ziex 912 mounted on my Momo Winter wheels. Will let you know how things go with these. :thumbup:

Have the 912s on my car now. I love them so far. Not to loud and a pretty smooth ride. How did yours do with a little snow on the ground if you ever experienced any? Why did you switch to the Kumhos? When I ordered my falkens from discount tire the sales guy kept telling me the falkens were much better tires.

I apologize, it was Falken Ziex ZE-512, that I had previously. I looked back on page 3 from this thread which was back in 2007, to verify that. The reason I went with the Kumho Ecsta AST was to try something new. I know this probably would have happened to anybody, but back in February 2010, I was on a tightly curving exit ramp and lost control. It was chilly out, and maybe I hit some black ice? That rubbed me the wrong way.

They were pretty good in a little snow if I remember correctly the few times it did snow back when I was living in Virginia. I had got them because they were all season, and my Azenis st115 were deplorable in snow/ice. Last year we got less than one inch of snow down here in San Antonio, and it actually stuck to the asphalt. In a word, it shut the whole city down. All freeways in town were closed till noon that day. LOL.

When I walked in to Discount Tire, they tried to up sell like crazy...Well you know Sir, the Pirellis are better, and all this ridiculousness. I want tires that cost less than $100 per, thank you very much. I got about 24,000 miles out of my ZE-512, but they started to get this crazy wearing on the inside tread of all four tires, I think because I got a bad alignment, but needed something different anyway.
