I just found out a week ago that my dad has my grandfather's Remington 12 gauge. I didn't know the gun even existed before then... heck, I thought I was the first person in my lineage to own a firearm. Apparently the gun floated around between relatives for years after his death in '91 (I was 13) and my dad tracked it down for no other reason than to keep rapid animals off his property. He said "had I know you were looking..." and now I can't wait to get my hands on it to keep for decades.
On a related note, I traded my dad's Lionel trains when I was a teenagerfor computer parts. To this day I not only regret it, I feel guilty.
