What Did Your Dad Drive?

The one thing my dad passed on to me was that if you work on your own car instead of taking it to the mechanic you will save a boatload of money. This has and will always stick with me because I enjoy working on cars. As far as manufacturers go, my parents had some really bad luck with a caravan and a neon, both died under 60k miles, so that's where my domestic hate comes from. After that my parents drove volvos and I have influenced them more than they have influenced me. My parents are hippies so they want the best gas mileage possible, so naturally they have turned to honda from my persuasion of reliability and bragging of the crx gas mileage :lol:

Just a couple years ago my dad picked up a Del Slo Si(SOHC) for 1500 bucks and loves the "sportiness" of it. He never did much intense work on cars unless it was fairly simple, brake jobs, tune ups, oil changes but I've been convincing him to broaden his horizons. His Del Sol had a clicking axle and he said he was taking to the shop he likes. I told him how to do it and that its super easy and he got it all done with the Haynes Manual and by calling me when he got stuck. I was pretty impressed, especially after I told him to wait for me to be there to help him.

I still can't get him to take the wheel of the STi though and even if he did he wouldnt tach it above 4-5k
