Interestingly enough, I prefer the old NASA scales to VIR scales. We had problems with the VIR scales in SCCA as well. I will tell you that on Sunday I weighed after getting 3 gals of fuel. weight was 2301. Prior to going on track for qual, the coffee (read: colon lube) started to work. I went to restroom then went out to qualify. After 3 laps of qualifying, I came directly to scales, my weight after 3 laps and visit to bathroom was 2302......
I still think the scales weigh cars differently early in the am. I dont know if it is only because of the extreme cold and its affect on the springs or what. I did check the scales twice with Kaan there and even re-checked them with only weight and no cart to haul the weight. The scales read exactly what the weights were.
I had a fun race anyway with only a small tire mark on my rear bumper from someone turning in too early to follow me through T-1. Made it up to 2nd before the double yellow and I think I could have caught 1st if I had 2 more laps or a re-start. Very fun race though. Unfortunate for those involved in the wreck up the esses.....
