After almost (and I mean almost) 100,000 miles of Focus, I gotta say...I've been really pleased by our little econobox. It got rear ended by a loaded tractor trailer and still has given us 5 years of all but worry free service. The ONLY serious mechanical problem we have had with the Focus was a dead alternator at 80,000 miles, which was ~400 parts and labor to replace. (Probably couldn't have done it that cheap myself.)
With the SVT suspension it handles nice, it's engine is perky (and no timing belt yaaaaaaay) and it gets good fuel economy. For the under 10 grand we paid, what more could we ask for?
To be perfectly honest, I love the focus, and I love the Speed3 (Eurofocus, basically) and I am pretty excited about this new Focus, especially if they can keep the price point down. Our '05 won't last forever, and an Ecoboost 2.0 with a Dual Clutch Gearbox could be a great replacement.
