oh the temptation....
i've really really been thinking of this as my next car. i'm having a hard time getting over the fact that they are old cars by now and almost definitely need pricey maintenance. on the other hand, they are at the bottom of the depreciation curve and drive like only undiluted lightweight old cars can. i'd love to enjoy the 911 experience on my average income and maybe even enjoy the fact that it may appreciate as an asset.
my understanding is that the particular era your're considering (80's) are built like brick houses. i've heard over racers that have dropped a fan belt on track and still finished the race with the engine in fine condition due to the massive amount of oil that cools the engine. the CSI injection is basic and they are relatively simple but i don't know that i'd enjoy working on an engine thats jammed up under the parcel shelf. they have that "classic" in-slow-out-fast-or-die 911 handling too. i think by now almost all have non working A/C systems and some have rust despite being galvanized.
