For that reason my wife wants me to get an R33 instead, which are DOT certified b/c Motorex submitted vehicles to get the R33 (96-98) crash tested.

I think I'd agree. The R34, while probably more technologically advanced, is my least favorite. I like the R32 for its more angular styling, but the R33 is also really attractive. They just look like they keep getting consecutively bigger, with the new Skyline looking it's walking away from a 3-day binge at Golden Corrall.
