haha, yeah, really is a frankenstein of a car. Parts from all the hot rod VW's and I make the rest myself. I'll def be at all the shows this year, starting with Bugout which I really hope my car makes it to. BUT, here is what everyone has been waiting for. I finally got some decent wrenchin done on the beast over spring break. On Saturday I finished up most of the wiring and did some electrical test to varify the wiring swap into the car. Everything seems to be fine, got the ECU powered up and lights all checked out. But on Monday I made some visual progress which I will share below. Got some bits and pieces tied up under the hood. Got the coolant by-pass hoses taken care of. This took some thought but all in all turned out well. I got these trick hose clamps that you shrink with a heat gun to clamp the hose, really looks clean! New water pump, thermostat and alternator installed. Got all the brakes hooked up and bled out, got the clutch slave cylinder installed and bled. The linkage I fabbed up worked great, clutch feels nice. Made the last stainless steel line for the oil cooler/ remote filter. And what you will really see and appreciate (as do I) the intercooler pipes!!! Big thanks to Blair and Nate for piecing them together. Blair came out and helped me for a few days which really helped speed things along. Next is custom spark plug wires, fab up the down pipe, side exit exhaust, fuel lines, oil drain line for the turbo. Getting closer!!! Thinking about ordering all new silicone connectors, I don't really like the way the blue looks. They also have 90 degree elbows that transition from 2-2.5 so I can get rid of that 2" section across the valve cover. Pipes will be cleaned and painted when all the fab work is done. Now for your viewing pleasure!!!!!!
