i think the lighting on the street shots are good. nice fluffy clouds to diffuse the harsh light and the blue really pops. nice contrast with the green and white too. i didnt notice the van or the streetlight until i looked for them.
the street pics look good, but yeah the garage pics look muted and flat. maybe because of the gray? or was it in the shadow of a tall building?
is it possible to get a shallow DOF shot of a large object with something as short as a 50mm? Even with f1.8 seems to me like you need more length when shooting a large object?
