at a prosolo, pat griffith (in his 4 lug se-4) lost one lugnut, and the whole wheel then completely came off. If you have more lugs to start with, this is less likely to happen in the case of 1 lug failing.
As far as the aRRR goes, the car needed bigger brakes than the dinky integra rotors, and the bigger Legend rotors were sitting there in the parts bin, so Im willing to bet it was a matter of cost.
