Yea, the XBOX optical drive is very sensitive to RW formats. I went though 4-5 different brands of DVD before I got one that would boot on mine. I haven't had a single problem playing video's though. Although I get all my movies from aXXo on bittorrent, pretty sure it's Xvid format.
My XBOX is more user friendly than my HTPC, wife can easily pick a video for the baby and have it going quicker on the XBOX than she can find the DVD case and navigate the 'tard menus to actually get the video playing. Not to mention it can boot in like 5 seconds vs 2 minutes for the computer, and the computer is no slouch, P4@3ghz.
