Apoc Wrote:Computer upgrades end up equaling how often people replace their consoles. You may piece together bits over time on a desktop but in the end you end up replacing everything for about the same cost and at the same pace as buying new consoles.
consoles = don't worry about upgrading but you replace the entire thing every few years
desktops = upgrade piece by piece but you've always got the latest and greatest
Same difference.
CLOSE except for when technologies change and you're faced with more than a new video card upgrade. i'm currently at that point (i squeaked by on technologies [agp, ddr1, ata133] for my last upgrade) that my next machine will be $1k+
in the long run, a pc will cost more, but you can do more with it. since i get machines from work to do that "more" part, i don't put much value it. i have no reason for a new computer other than my old one is rebooting randomly when under stress, but i'm building a new one anyway.
if you get a pc from work: consoles all the way
if you don't: you can make a case for pcs
