Evan Wrote:Chris Id like to see those statistics for various levels of injury. minor, Broken bones, long term injury, life threatening.
that does play a very important factor in it.
and i dont really see that story as a 'guilt trip'
similar to the guy who died at Mid-ohio a couple weeks ago has made me think about racing or not
Of the 3 million car injuries, 2 million were "permanent." Like I said, I agree that I'm more likely to get fucked up if/when I crash, I just think the whole motorcycles are a death sentence thing is overblown.
I think when you factor in alcohol, stupidity and lack of gear then the numbers aren't nearly as bad as people think. Yes you can still get hurt but didn't I read this guy drove at 55mph into the back of an SUV? I'm not immune from mistakes but a lot of statistics are people who we know will eventually end up as one.
Perhaps I'm a bit over-senstive and perhaps it has a lot to do with people asking me if I "like being an organ donor." (I've had that conversation more than once.) I've had the conversations with my wife and parents, I have life and disability insurance and I have a will. I don't need everyone, especially those who don't do it themself (don't mean you) constantly telling me how dangerous it is.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
