I understand where you are coming from Mike. I saw my best friend in ICU after a motorcycle accident. His then girlfriend, now wife, at his bedside. Sometimes it is not worth it to put such a huge emotional strain on those you love. I want to get another one, but maybe I personally am not cut out for it, hell I crashed from no fault but my own, and if I would get seriously injured if I started if I started riding again, I am fine with not starting again.
