If you amortize your operating costs for the bike (tires, gas, brake pads, oil, and so on) the cost is not much more than running your own. And I'm all about abusing someone else's equipment.
Plus you don't have to incur the cost of depreciation if you happen to go down. The parts are a sunk cost but unless you restore your bike to near-perfect conditions, someone's going to know you crashed it and pay you less for it.
