It is not legal for YOU, a consumer, to purchase PERSONAL items on a Tax Exempt account for YOUR use. My dad has a tax exempt number for his business, however if he's using it to buy things that he plans on using himself he must pax tax at the time of sale.
The club is tax exempt b/c it is a non-profit org and any money collected does not need to be considered 'income' and therefore no year-end taxes are paid by MM, even though they collect money in the form of dues/donations/etc.
