Hi guys--
Grady Street here. I live in Reston VA but visit a friend of mine in Harrisburg often. Cody and a friend of his (blond guy - don't remember his name?) were drooling over my car, so I figured I'd have to post here and harass you guys a little bit. I have a fully optioned 2009 BMW 328i x drive wagon which I picked up in Germany late summer 2009 with BMW's European delivery program. I will post pics for you guys shortly.

That'd be Chris with Cody. They mentioned the wagon - sounds cool, I dig Tourings. I want an E34 540i/6 touring real bad.
Euro delivery is something I'd like to do eventually. Some CCVT guys did it with a 135i and made a video. Worth the 30 minutes to watch.

So I didn't realize there were BMW haters here! HAHA.
SO, just to give you guys something to chat about, I just picked up a 2001 330i from a coworker of mine for $1,000.
The coolant tank cracked and the car overheated on her which killed the engine.
I was hoping the repair shop would say they could just repair the head gasket but they are saying it's not fixable and the car needs a new engine to live again. Car is clean and I think worth the investment.
Here is my question: My dad has a wrecked 2001 530i with a good engine. Can I put that engine in the car? The parts computer says it is a match but the mechanic I took the car to said no, can't do it.
So, question to you guys - is the 530i engine the same as the 330i engine for 2001?
And if not, where is the best place to get a used engine and who to put it in for a 2001 330i? I had taken the car to AutoSkandia in Herndon, VA and they are quoting 2K for labor if I provide them an engine. This sounds a little high.
Thoughts?

from the looks of it they are the same motor, I would assume your biggest concern would be the wiring harness, since they are 2 different models, I am sure you could get a lot of info from Bimmerforums on using that engine in the 330. For the record I am not a BMW hater, just simply think the population is running rampant and needs to be thinned out to preserve the other wildlife

Hey now, I went on an errand with my DSM the other day. Without a bumper...and without current inspection....the dsm way.
While the M3 was on jackstands...
