The Flu - WRXtranceformed - 01-20-2011 ![]() I has it ![]() Anyone else get caught up in this mess this year? I thought I was going to die yesterday. My girlfriend brought me soup and mac and cheese and couldn't really understand what I was saying because of the concoction of pain meds I took that I could dig up at my house. Thought I was fine this morning until I coughed up blood at work. I got a prescription for Tamiflu which is supposed to be good stuff. I might think twice about not getting a flu shot this year, although to be fair one of the other guys in the doctor's office had the flu and he got a flu shot already. Re: The Flu - Mike - 01-20-2011 concoction of pain meds... and then coughing up blood. darwin award entrant? Re: The Flu - JohnC - 01-20-2011 I had it between Christmas and New Years - high fever, lots of coughing, but thankfully no stomach issues. I also discovered that codeine makes me extremely dizzy and nauseous. I missed an entire week of work and it took me a full 2.5 weeks to resume normal activities (gym, sports, etc). Re: The Flu - WRXtranceformed - 01-20-2011 I don't think coughing up blood is a result of mixing tylenol cold with regular tylenol Pretty sure that would be all the crap that's trying to clear out of my chest.
Re: The Flu - WRXtranceformed - 01-20-2011 Ah that sucks John, now that the weather is warming up I was hoping to get out and play some more golf. The doctor said definitely not to though, the flu apparently can come back around again or lead to pneumonia if you don't rest enough. I tried to go to the gym too soon, and that knocked me back on my ass for a few more days. Re: The Flu - Jake - 01-20-2011 I was the first diagnosed case of the flu at JMU, two weeks before finals in December. Go me. Really high fever (spiked at 103.9) and night sweats, chills, generally feeling like a sack of crap. I missed three days of class and needed another 2 to really get back in gear. Teh Wikis Wrote:Excedrin is an over-the-counter headache pain reliever, typically in the form of tablets or caplets. It contains acetaminophen, aspirin, and caffeine. Pain relievers with codeine are a Schedule III drug, available only with a prescription. Re: The Flu - Apoc - 01-20-2011 So am I right in assuming there is some extra codeine floating around?? Unless I got one before I can remember, I've never had a flu shot. I've also never had the flu but I have a fairly freakish immune system as I only get a cold once every couple years. My wife seems to get sick a couple times a year and they knock her on her ass. I can't relate, but it seems like they suck. I can't imagine the flu. Re: The Flu - Mike - 01-20-2011 i'm with chris... aside from cold/allergy shit, i don't get sick. in fact, the sickest i've been in years is the night i got my flu shot a few years back... had a reaction. was not good. f that noise. never mind the rfid nanobots they're injecting while they're in there. That reminds me. I did have a reaction to a tetanus shot last this past August, after I had all those tick bites. From what I read, I pretty much had the flu for two days. That was miserable... so maybe I can relate. That reinforced my position of not opting to be injected with viruses. I understand that the risk of some vaccines are worth it when compared to the actual disease, but the flu ain't one of those (for me). We have PTO (sick = vacation) at my company, so it's a fairly large epidemic. Re: The Flu - WRXtranceformed - 01-21-2011 Evan Wrote:so youre one of those disease carrying assholes who comes to work :finger:Yep I thought it was just a bad sinus infection until that happened.Unfortunately quotas don't just disappear because you get sick. At least this gives me an excuse to act like a big baby. The flu sucks, I haven't gotten it in probably 10+ years. The bottom line is though that basically nobody is immune to it. I'm healthy but a virus is a virus. By far the WORST illness I've had in my living memory was mono. Mono SUCKED. I was laid up on a couch for 2 weeks straight, I only got helped to get up when I had to use the bathroom. Imagine having a fever and shaking constantly but having no energy to shake anymore. So your body is using up all of the meager energy reserves you have to shake like a little baby. That was pure misery. Re: The Flu - .RJ - 01-21-2011 Your quota will still be there when you're healthy.
