Project 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix - ViPER1313 - 08-30-2010 Feeling a little bored and I just passed 50k miles of ownership, so I figured I would write a little something on the DD. For all of you who might not know, I bought my Pontiac as a replacement for my Rabbit, which was the largest POS I have ever owned. The car was originally a California rental, pre-wrecked with some questionable body work to the right rear quarter panel, front bumper and hood. The price was right though. Maintenance / repairs since 34k miles: 35k - Had a steering column U-Joint replaced under warranty due to a slight clunk when turning the wheel directly off center. 45k - Replaced transmission fluid / filter and front brake pads w/ CMax units 65k - New Yokohama tires all round, stockers still had some tread left but all wet traction was gone. 75k - Hawk HPS pads and rotors all the way around, new plugs and wires, changed supercharger oil 80k - Replaced accessory drive belts and flushed the coolant Upgrades: Silverstar headlight bulbs Hacked up the stock airbox to remove a lot of restriction. 180-degree thermostat - the stock cooling system is barely adequate for the car. It never overheats but the trans will get to 240 if you are running hard up a mountain. So far the car has been great, dead reliable and flies completely under the radar. It handles like shit but soaks up the miles and is great in traffic. Stereo is awesome and the built in XM kicks ass. Remote start and seat heaters are great in the winter - I don't want to own another car without it. Re: Project 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix - ScottyB - 08-30-2010 forgot this was SC'd. any plans for a pulley/tune? i think i know the answer seeing as how it's you DD but i had to ask. i have fond memories of my high school friends' grand prix GTP. took alot of abuse. For some reason GM changed the ECU on the 2007/2008 compared to the 04->06, and the tuners only work for the earlier units (which have some issues in the later cars..) |
