Does this seem like a fair sale?

Re: Does this seem like a fair sale? 600rr inside - Sijray21 - 04-08-2010

absolutely - i think you'll definitely get some interest, especially considering that the bike is all black. plus people will likely negotiate on CL for a lower price.

for reference, the handle-bar weight is called a 'bar-end'. ;-)

lemme know if you need anything for touch-ups (chain clean/lube, plexus for the $bling$, etc.)

Re: Does this seem like a fair sale? 600rr inside - mrbaggio - 04-08-2010

duh... While I was typing it I knew it was wrong, but too lazy to look it up. What makes it worse is I've replaced it before so I should be familiar with the part.

It can be funny the people that email about it. Half seem to be regular humans that want to move forward with an honest deal. Others just lop 1100-1900 right off the price and think it's a real offer. Or asking what my lowest price would be? Should I negotiate FOR you? Does this EVER work? The ad was not even a day old and they throw that shit out there? Come on.

In case you guys thinks its funny like I do:
"Hello,
I understand I have not come to see the bike yet to make an offer. But are you willing to sell for 3k?
Thanks,
Jon"

"What is the best you can do cash money?"
my reply was "$4900"

"Hey I don't no if you like this or not but I can offer you $3800 if you think we can talk hit me up at 7032965424 I have this guy I'm going to see he's bike this friday so if you can let me no tomorrow thank u "
Excellent command of the English language on this one.

Re: Does this seem like a fair sale? 600rr inside - Kaan - 04-08-2010

wait until you get the... "hey i've got $500 right now... will you take payments?"

Re: Does this seem like a fair sale? 600rr inside - mrbaggio - 04-08-2010

Haha. No one has suggested payments yet, but one guy did tell me flat out he did not have any money. Then he proceeded to ask if that was a "deal breaker"

Just to review the private sale process. I am going to do a bill of sale. No personal checks. I am going to request cash. If they can't do that, is taking a bank check directly to the bank WITH them sufficient? I am not letting any of these donkeys test ride the bike. People won't EXPECT to ride it before the sale right?

After the sale: The bike registration is currently expired. I plan on taking the tags off the bike before it is handed over. It is up to them to transport the bike. I shouldn't worry about this right? There is still a small loan on the bike. 1k or something like that. Is it customary to give the buyer the bike at the time of the sale; then when I get the title after the pay off I mail it to the buyer?

Re: Does this seem like a fair sale? 600rr inside - Kaan - 04-08-2010

we took a bill of sale, the bike, keys, etc... and waited for the title. the previous owner got the money up front. we got a call that the title came in... and we went to pick it up.

they may want to test ride it .... only if they bring cash... and only if they had it to you first. dead plate is a dead plate... they can figure it out.

I would only take cash... and make sure you spell out "RJ <3s Cock" with your money and post a picture.

Re: Does this seem like a fair sale? 600rr inside - Sijray21 - 04-08-2010

haha, i love whatever version of the english language those people are using, please post more funnies when you get them. i've gotten the, "hey, do you take payments" question before when i was selling my civic. my reply, "no, i am not a bank - go talk to a bank and get a loan"

since you still have a loan on the bike i would just pay it off and get the title first before the actual sale. If not, i would give them the bike and keys and sign a bill of sale and include this situation as a clause. you can mail them the title as soon as you get it, but make a copy first. and as for transporting the bike - it is their problem. let them come get the bike. i once tried to accommodate a buyer for a buddy's bike. it ended with me paying for a lawyer because i was pulled over on his bike and it didn't have proper plates.

regarding the dead-plate, i would tell them the situation, but obviously don't let them test-ride it unless they have $4900 in cash that they're giving to you prior to the test-ride in case they run off with it or in case they crash it.

or...i could use my truck and ramps to transport it to the buyer's place for $40 + $0.50 per mile.

If they can't move the bike I will push your services. What's my cut if i do? hahah

Re: Does this seem like a fair sale? 600rr inside - Mike - 04-08-2010

two things...

1) can i get a joyride?
2) jray, i might need to take you up on your bike transportation services if i can't get my pile running in the next month. i'll only be going 2.5 miles, but the fucker is a fat pig (i ain't walking it).

Re: Does this seem like a fair sale? 600rr inside - mrbaggio - 04-08-2010

your cut is that the service is an incentive to buy from you

i can provide my services if i still have my truck (i will make a post about this later... ). just hit me up when you're looking to move the bike and i can see when i have some time as well.

Re: Does this seem like a fair sale? 600rr inside - mrbaggio - 04-12-2010

I've got a buyer, and he's already put a deposit down. The buyer needs to get a loan for the bike. He has requested at photo copy of the title, my ID, and the registration for the bike. Does this sound normal?

*Thanks for helping to educate a first time private seller.

Re: Does this seem like a fair sale? 600rr inside - .RJ - 04-12-2010

It can be normal depending on who is giving him the loan. Most banks/credit unions dont require this, but some of the online banks/lenders do - I had to go through those hoops when I sold my GTi. If they really need that stuff, then find out where it needs to go and send it there directly, dont give it to the prospective buyer.

this

i'm very apprehensive about giving people my personal information.

Re: Does this seem like a fair sale? 600rr inside - mrbaggio - 04-12-2010

Are you NOT giving the prospective buyer docs like that because of ID theft, or are they able to make some sort of claim of ownership on the bike with photo copies?

Re: Does this seem like a fair sale? 600rr inside - .RJ - 04-12-2010

Both.

The kind of banks/lenders that require those kinds of docs are generally covering their asses for someone with low or no credit history, but thats not your problem as long as the check clears. The alternative is you could hold out for a cash buyer, or just give the buyer you have on the hook his deposit back and tell him that you dont want to jump through hoops to sell the bike.
