Images in sig slows down the site because a separate HTTP request has to be filled to (most likely) another server, which means a whole new lookup, and a whole new connection.... all before the rest of the page loads...

If you notice the forums that allow (and encourage) pics in sigs are the ones full of the most garbage.
Never mind you get a headache from reading through them where half of the page space is taken up by those stupid pics.
Every time I follow a link to s2ki.com I get a headache...
